A bird's eye view of Buenos Aires Buenos Aires is a very special city. Rising suddenly and dramatically out of the flat lands of the Pampas, this teeming cosmopolitan city, so full of life is a unique blend of European, North American and South American cultures. Out of a country wide population of 37 million, some 11 million live in Buenos Aires. The 'porteno' as the resident of Buenos Aires is known thrives on the pace and bustle of life in the capital. For a vibrant city it can also be relaxing. In September the stunning pinky, purple La Pacho trees are in bloom and at any time of year you can enjoy street corner cafes, colourful flower and fruit stalls, interesting Sunday markets, the parks, gardens, beautifully designed buildings, all in brilliant sunshine in the company of well groomed passers-by.

What you could do in Buenos Aires

The Obelisco with Buenos Aires lit up all around Buenos Aires has more days of sunshine a year than any comparable city in the northern hemisphere. In fact there are no long spells of extreme heat or cold . The climate is invigorating all year round. Buenos Aires is the eighth largest city in the world and located along the shore of the world's widest river, the river Plate which separates Argentina from Uruguay. It is one of the world's great ports and amongst other things it can boast is that it is the world leader in meat consumption and fourth in wine! Its greatest boast of course has to be it's active cultural life: museums, art-galleries and the famous Colon Opera. At night the city pulsates with the music from clubs and tango bars. It is truly a city that never sleeps!
